Revisiting Cosmetic Surgery and the Economy - A Ripe Time for Marketing

Earlier this season, cosmeticSEO.com discussed a number of proactive measures that you, a specialized physician, can take to upstart your medical practice’s activity amidst the country’s economic downturn. While an aggressive Internet advertising campaign will undoubtedly bolster sales and patient frequency in any type of market, new reports are showing that people, regardless of their current financial status, are still undergoing cosmetic treatments.

This increase in business is no surprise. We reported on this in late June and speculated that due to our society’s rather lopsided placement of value on “looking good” that it is hard to find a time when practices will not be busy with the typical throng of patients.

In the United States many are turning to plastic and cosmetic surgery in order to receive a one-up during the job interview process. These people think that by looking better than their competition they will have an easier time landing a job or qualifying for a larger salary in such trying times.

Most of this increased activity is seen in non-invasive procedures, laser treatments and wrinkle fillers. One physician, Dr. Matthew Avram says that he’s seen a 20 percent increase in this year’s activity compared to last.

The unemployed - while not the usual target demographic for cosmetic surgery - are extremely eager to “go under the knife”. Whether their motives are to try and even the playing field in a youth-minded and aesthetically focused society or simply just to take advantage of a longer recovery period, these economic victims should be the target of a short but focused marketing campaign.

For more information on how you as a plastic surgeon can launch a successful cosmetic surgery marketing campaign that focuses on those who are eager and ready to undergo procedures and treatments, contact cosmeticSEO.com or continue browsing through our advanced Internet marketing blog for specialized physicians.
