Marketing Plastic Surgery to Couples

A new marketing strategy for cosmetic surgeons materialized today from a television show that exemplifies the way in which you should act in order to reach a specific demographic. Targeting the females 18-100+ audience with unparalleled precision, the television show “The View” broadcast an entire episode dedicated to the changing perception of cosmetic surgery in America.

While we won’t recap the program in its entirety, we will disclose some advice that may prove helpful to physicians who are open to embracing new avenues for marketing their products and services.

One segment of the show dealt with couples “going under the knife” together. Below is an excerpt taken from http://www.watchingtheview.com:

Rick and Carla Lundblade appeared on the show to talk about having plastic surgery together. She was entering a career as a clinical psychologist in her 40s and wanted to be competitive with other people who were starting their careers in their 30s. (You need to look good to be a psychologist?) She also wanted to get rid of sun damage. They decided to do the surgery the same day as a matter of practicality. Carla had cheek implants, minimal revisions to her nose and cheek, and brow something or other. Rick had liposuction around the stomach. Dr. Fleming said it is common for couples to do it together. Usually the man comes in with the wife for her consult and they get excited about it and want to do something for themselves. Some do it because they want to look better or trade themselves in for a younger version. He said that actors and actresses almost have to have surgery as an investment in the career. He said that European patients share are desire but are more quiet about it. Joy said she doesn’t know if she wants her shrink to have plastic surgery and wouldn’t want her shrink to be more superficial than her.

Undoubtedly, because this treatment received notable visibility on the air, those interested in receiving surgeries with their partner will be looking for practices that provide such service offerings. Physician’s need to take advantage of this quickly by adding fresh content to their Web site letting potential patients know that they support such treatments and provide services for couples interested in going under the knife together.

Aside from this, the idea of “couples for plastic surgery” is an original and fascinating concept in its own right. Having the support and security of a loved one that is undergoing similar fears and trepidation will alleviate the anxiety of cosmetic surgery altogether.

This also highlights the importance of a blog or custom content management system. With such platforms integrated on your domain, a physician and/or their Web master can easily publish pages and pages of new content or launch new marketing specific sections for your Web site quickly and easily.
