Marketing on/with/in preparation for Google Chrome
Google Chrome - Google’s brand new open-source browser - debuts today, after less-than anticipated fanfare.
Is your site ready for this new breed of browser?
From my research, it seems as though Chrome will test their output and screen rendering on pages that adhere to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines (Web standards, more or less), so those sites that have intrinsically better site construction will not display broken when they are called up for display.
What we will see is a browser much less forgiving than IE and Firefox - a bold move by Google to clean up the Web in general.
Based upon Google’s popularity, if people flock to this browser like they did to their search engine, sites that are not developed with search engine optimization and best practices in mind will ultimately fail for proper screen rendering and usability - driving users and Web masters alike to frustration and redesign.
This is one reason in itself to make sure your code adheres to Web standards.
Another notable feature of Chrome is its ability to easily recall your Web pages for keywords that appear within its content. Therefore if your site is opitimized for a given set of keywords and a user navigates to it, their browser history will automatically recall your page based upon this previous visit if they search for a related keyword in its omnibox (i.e. address bar).
Keeping this in mind, there is no better time than now to undertake an aggressive on-site search engine marketing campaign in order to improve your site construction and content optimization.
