New Markets Open for Plastic Surgery Advertising

Late last month, we at cosmeticSEO.com discussed what you as plastic surgeon can do to jump start your medical practice’s book of business amidst the current sagging U.S. economy. Although 53% of cosmetic practices saw a downturn in sales, there is still increased activity for surgeons who provide non-invasive procedures and offer dermatological treatments. The same heightened business is also available for those who are not afraid to take advantage of high volume platforms that can effectively increase one’s marketing visibility, such as blogging and participating in social media forums.

We already tout that an Internet marketing campaign that delves in all channels of distribution (audio and video, quick content publishing, social media portals, etc.) is a recession proof solution. But let’s again investigate why.

We know that the Internet is in a state of ever- increasing user participation and interactivity due to the latest traffic reports and analysis of tagged social content. We can also infer, from our own powers of observation, that the Web has become an integral part of each of our lives. Aggressively putting your physician’s brand on high traffic Web sites and promoting your practice inside online communities is essentially placing your mark directly in front of your potential clients’ eyes.

Using the Internet to promote your services is a surefire way to target the proper demographics of those interested in plastic surgery.

Think about who might be prime candidates for surgical procedures amidst today’s trying economic times. Leverage and overhead should be spent on “creating noise” about your unique service propositions and cosmetic procedures so that both the growing, wealthy Latino middle class and the overseas European market turn their attention unto you. The speculation of American specialized services, such as cosmetic and plastic surgeries, is currently outstanding, and quite frankly ever-rising, as the value of the U.S. dollar continues to fall.

These Western European and Hispanic-American clients are the key components of a ripe market-share that is still novel and ready for preemptive activity. Both demographics should be the target of early approaching plastic surgeons that wish to increase their client base during our economy’s recent slump.
